What Is The Best Hair Removing Method For Young Girl.

My niece is 10. She lives with me. She started puberty last year and she was really happy with it at first because it meant she was growing up. But she has recently started asking if she can shave her armpits. Did I mention shes 10 ?. The thought of letting her loose with a razor sends my anxiety sky high. I was thinking maybe hair removal cream would be better, but which one. ?. Would also have to be good for her lady garden area in case she decided to get rid down there. Any suggestions would be welcome especially off anybody that has/is going/gone through this .

Cream would be best, other methods are quite harsh on young skin. Veet is a well known one I have used. Ther emay be cheaper brands - any creams sold in chemists and supermarkets will be fine to use.

Thank you all. I will be telling her to leave her pubic area alone but I dont want to make her leave her armpits alone especially with the warmer weather. Thank you for your suggestions. I think I am better off going for a sensitive cream arnt I .

they're all strong ie veet etc- so be careful of young skin being burnt.

Yes, the brand doesn't matter but best to go for a sensitive formula.

My granddaughter has dark hairs on her legs and underarms. Shaving is inclined to make hairs coarser. She went to a beautician when she was ten and had legs and armpits waxed. She was thrilled. During lockdown she has been using veet strips and cream with no ill effects. She does follow all directions carefully. As long as she is supervised the first couple of times all should be well. No bikini area though

I'd go for a decent make sensitive one, leave downstairs well alone and make sure that she does a patch test first and maybe go through the instructions together so you know she knows how to use it properly, time to leave it on for etc... I tried one on my legs and had a really bad reaction to it so a patch test is really important.

That's actually a myth.

What happens is, when you cut a hair, it has a 'flat' end as opposed to its normal tapered end, which feels harder to the touch.

The texture of the hair is unaltered by shaving - just the feel of it.

I wouldn't put hair removing cream on a child's skin. I would gently shave it for her.

I would get her a decent women’s razor like a Venus.

My mum wouldn’t let me use anything so I nicked my dad’s cheap Bic which didn’t help his mood or my skin!

Ideally if a girl/lady can avoid shaving right from the get/go she can keep the hair soft, making any type of removal much easier.

Waxing is definitely the number one preferred - expensive, yes, but very effective and most skin can tolerate this better than other creams etc.
