But Trump supporters needn't worry, he isn't taking the tablets, he's just saying he is (something different entirely), it diverted attention during what could have otherwise become a difficult press conference or whatever it was. All politicians use such deflection techniques.

No one here, as far as I’m aware, has said that Trump is doing the right thing. Simply that the idea that because Trump supports trials we should dismiss the possibility that those trials might prove the drugs beneficial to recovery. If Trump says it, it has to be wrong. Personally, I can’t see how something that could aid recovery can be assumed to be a preventative - which is why I presume he’s taking them.
