Some weeks ago someone asked about a non slip bath mat and someone recommended a white”hairy” one. I ordered one that has just arrived. It is brilliant, very comfortable and safe. Thank you whoever recommended it. I can now enjoy my bath time book and vino again

that's what I have LB - shower in the bath - the handles are just for steadying - I really don't "pull" on them but the ones Alavav advises would be great.
sorry LB - very dry wall - clean the area with bathroom cleaner or such and dry off.
LB .. All the more reason to have something you can rely on.
I know what you mean though, you dont think for a minute that you might have a moment and lose your balance. But having been the guy who turned up after the event to put things right. I can assure you there were many who had ... 'never had a fall before'.

The poor lady I mentioned earlier had just returned from hospital where she had been in intensive care. Part of the Hospital Release Plan was, that she had proper grabrails fitted before she went home. What had happened was she pulled herself up out of the bath and then stepped out of the bath still holding the grabrail. The rail then pulled off of the wall and she went face down onto the corner of a floor standing cabinet. Her whole face was black and blue and she had a hole in her forehead where the corner of the cabinet had fractured her skull ..
She really looked horrendous ! .. She told me that when she had bought it .. " It was just to steady herself," she didn't realise she was depending on it more and more now as time went by."
The suction type are just a false sense of security and you wont find out how dangerous they are until it comes loose !

alava, thank you for your kind concern for my safety but did you read my post at 13.14 which says I am going to replace my bath with a shower cubicle (when my self isolation is over). I want a suction grab rail in particular because I don't want my tiles ruined as once my shower cubicle is fitted the GR will be drilled in at a different level. Also, the one I have chosen today has a grip area that isn't chrome for the very reason you have stated.
I hope all ^ makes sense.
