Gill, I called the number in Lankeela's link. I thought it was a fax machine because all I got was clicking and buzzing noises. The lady that called me back definitely was not from the council but was from Lifeline Services. Do you have a personal alarm linked to that service?
Don't forget the connection charge as well as the per minute cost. We found it was cheaper to use our mobile than TalkTalk's landline, so we just keep the landline for incoming calls as it comes with the broadband and only costs us £26 for high-speed fibre @60GB.
Gill roughly how much a month do you normally spend on phone calls? I'm with TalkTalk and I pay a fixed monthly amount for my Anytime Calls. This is for UK landline and mobile calls 24/7. 60 mins is allowed for each call, if you want longer you ring off and dial again.
I can't remember how much I pay, I'll check.
Right I pay £6/month for Anytime Calls. However this is reduced from £12/month for 18 months and the deal will end sometime next year at which point I shall negotiate another deal.
So Gill depending how much you are spending a month it might be worth you considering Anytime.
I've finally worked it out!
The 0330 first number is the number used by my Lifeline when I ring and test the neck alarm every month. It does not appear on my phone because it dials through the separate Lifeline box in the hall.
13.5p per min on TalkTalk tariff for service G21 rate numbers.
Sorry, barry and lb didn't see your posts before I replied.
Will definitely look into Anytime calls.
The amount varies per month but about £21.50 for broadband package and £30 for calls this last month more than ever before.
Thanks ladybirder have just signed up for Anytime unlimited calls. Just found out my friend has this, too, and she says her G21 calls are free, too.
A success after all day messing about with it.
