I was accosted by some friends and made to wear high heels on sat night. They allegedly take lb's off you, and having worn the bloomin torture devices I tend to agree they do improve shape no end but why did my mother never tell me this? I have spent years in jeans and skate shoes cos they're comfy and I don't do clubs anyway. But all the girls were astounded that I didn't know high heels made you thinner. So my question is. Am I the only girl in the world whos mother never passed on this pearl of wisdom or is a relatively new discovery in the Trinny and Tranny era?
No seriously, as it is my profession to sell glamorous high heeled foorwear to ladies of all shapes and sizes, we have to learn to adopt some diplomatic selling points,
e.g.:
they are so flattering aren't they madam
They really help with your posture and deportment because they make you taller you improve your elegance.
They disguise your bunyan, corns and varicose veins well as you can wear longer trousers
Lol at Chazza. Think I'll just save them for weekends then-don't think I could handle the pain everyday! I guess it's just cos she isnt' a huge heel wearer herself, and its not like I've never worn heels before-just I hadn't noticed how much thinner I looked with them on!
so Dot, since it is your profession.... are any of those things actually true? I'm not one for the patter of the salesman.
It's not like I'm a great huge heifer or anything, and I did refer to one girl I saw last night as a xmas pudding on sticks as she had skinny jeans and high heel boots on!!
Maybe just like anything, in the right combination it looks good-but get it wrong and it's disastrous!!
High heels are okay if you have got thin ankles. As my legs are like a Rugby Players I only wear High heels with trousers. Nothing more unattractive than your ankle hanging over the side of your shoe!!!
I do think they make you look slimmer because they make you look taller. Good luck with them
In the end though they'll ruin your posture... if you wear them everyday especially. They make you look as if you are walking 'properly' and straighter but we and our spines, ankles, knees and hips were not designed to walk on our tip toes!
Wasn't having a go : )
There are plenty of women who wear high heels every day though and I know a few who don't even own any flat shoes/trainers and the like!
