Try connecting your USB lead from your phone into the USB ports at the back of your PC instead of the ports at the front???

Does you phone appear in Device Manager IE is there a successful logical connection?

Hi Catso.
In device manager, no mention of the phone. I have a "usb data cable" recognised tho. Ive checked the properties on this and it appears to be working correctly. As does the root hub.

Also under "other devices" i have a pci modem!?!?!? I havent a clue what this is. Clicking on properties shows the device not to be working. Hope this helps.
The modem could be your phone, do you have a modem in your PC? If so, can you see a modem under Modems? If so, then the other one is your phone, so 1/ it shows you do have a connection & 2/ you haven't got the correct driver.

You can reload the driver by deleting the object in Device Manager, then restarting the PC. But if you don't actually have the right driver available, this won't achieve much.

Have you downloaded the phone support files from the manufacturer?

Thx Catso.

I tried to update the drivers for the pci modem from a cd rom provided by sony ericsson. No joy there. Ive decided to quiz the IT guy at work to see if he can help me anymore. Im a pc dufus.

Thx again for your advice.
