Best National Anthem.

Has anyone got a favourite national anthem? Preferably a favourite based on musical or literary merit rather than nationalistic ideas. My favourite is the Marseillaise; like a Roy Orbison song, the melody develops without repetition, leading to a musical climax.

The Russian National Anthem is great because it is a rip off of Pachelbel's Canon in D.

In no particular order..Russia, Germany, France. I've also grown to quite like Italy through watching the world cup. I hate the English one. Musically it's a dismal dirge. It's a slow waltz when it should be a march.

retro 00:07, that's not the Irish National anthem, it's the united Irland song, played at home rugby matches. In Rugby there is a united Ireland and indeed British Isles.
