Went to Morrisons to do a click and collect. That was fine, then went to fill the car up. OH did it, I realised he wasn't getting back in the car. I leaned over and asked are you ok. He said "I've put the wrong fuel in" he looked a bit pale. I got out and went round to him. He had forgotten which car we were in. Not long since he bought this one, always had petrol cars before.
I went into kiosk and explained to cashier what had happened. She said don't turn the key at all. Ring your insurers. I did, they said it will cost you £90. So I paid up, he told me it would take nearly 2 hours for someone to come. So we waited and waited, he eventually came after nearly 3 hours.
He was really helpful and apologetic for being so long. He had come from Derby and we were in Ross on Wye. Anyway he drained the tank and put a cleaner in. They give you ten litres of fuel free so that helped a little.
Then we had to fill up again. It was an expensive afternoon. Mind you we are always looking for new ways to pass the time.
We have had quite a few disasters in our time together and they are all connected with liquid!

Hope you didnt didn't have much frozen food on the pickup!
Don't go down that route Mozz. That's probably still sitting on the garage forecourt. :-(
//He had come from Derby and we were in Ross on Wye. //

..and that cost £90? You did very well there because after costs he must have made about £10 profit. I'd want more than that for six hours work.
At least Mr C realised his error before starting the car. You could well have been looking at the cost of a new enine otherwise!

[PS: I hope that you've got over your tummy bug]

The guy was called out by Caran's insurance company, T42. They'll have footed most of the bill with the £90 that Caran paid just being the excess.

Yes Chris, works the same as windscreen excess.
I did this once, put petrol in a diesel car. I was devastated, and felt such a fool!

Why is anyone with any moral scruples still driving a diesel car?

12:40 Fri 12th Jun 2020

I love my diesel car, brilliant cheap to run. 1.9 and 70 MPG.

What's not to like.
Because it puts far less CO2 than the equivalent petrol car, gives you a far better range on a tankful and has better torque characteristics for towing.
Trust Sparklykid to think more about his wallet than the environment.
I thought some experiments had been done and it was found that over the same number of miles the amount of co2 put into the atmosphere was the same for diesel vehicles as for petrol. This is because diesel cars use less fuel.

Sorry I can't find the link but I do remember reading it.

Why would anyone with moral scruples drive any I.C.E. car a considerable distance from their home during lockdown just to sit by a riverbank.Hardly excercise is it? Only in hypocrisy.
