Hi Is there any reason why you shouldn't turn a filter off in the aquarium to give my small fish a bit of piece for a while?
Thanks

what is the problem for the fish?
Sounds like a touch of anthropomorphism creeping in here - whether you mean peace from the noise or water movement. Whichever I'd say no, the filter is vitally important for maintaining water quality. The fish in your tank will not have lived naturally in silent still pools :-)
What type of filter do you have?

Can you alter the direction of the output flow?

Can you alter the rate of flow?

Your filter might have the option to use a spray bar.

It is a power filter and the flow is set on minimum. A spray bar would be a good idea and have been in touch with Interpet to see if they do one. The fish find it difficult to swim naturally and don't look happy with it always on. Liven up a lot when turned off though.
If they look happier with it off, time to buy a different one maybe? I'm no expert on fish though, but would want any pets of mine to be happy.

Thanks iluvmarjie that filter has now been removed and will only put it back if I can find a spray bar for it. My other filter in the tank doesn't have a ventura system so doesn't inject bubbles but filters ok.
Good x
