I'm talking Westminster Abbey.....at least for a memorial service in the future but even for the funeral, given they can probably accommodate 300-400 even with distancing...and then beam the service outside..... Not any Royal Ceremonial but a gesture from the Family to her service to the Nation?

Its not her church or her decision.
"Westminster Abbey is a collegiate church governed by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster, as established by Royal charter of Queen Elizabeth I dated 21 May 1560, which created it as the Collegiate Church of St Peter Westminster, a Royal Peculiar under the personal jurisdiction of the Sovereign."

So you are saying that Her Maj says'I'd like you to offer the Church to the family' and they'll ignore her......? Bullst.....
I rather think the family may prefer a more private funeral.
They answer to her yes but she does not own Westminster Abbey. Its not the Queen's to do with as she wishes....
I am sure that whomever does have control of the Abbey will be happy to offer it to the family, should they wish for that type of service.
well they cant have Carey singing along
the old archbish of canterbury

he's just been defrocked !

In February 2018 Carey was granted "permission to officiate" by Steven Croft, the bishop of Oxford, allowing him to preach and preside at churches in the diocese. This was revoked on 17 June 2020 as the Church of England said that there was new evidence linking Carey to a review into abuse committed by John Smyth.

yes you proddy dogs ! your archbish said too little about a child molester - actually seems to have known too much and blaarted too little (not something we see on AB very often) Left footers are available - to taste - cardinals, bsjops and priests - - - deacons even
// the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey chose to offer Hooker a grave near Charles Darwin's in the nave //

so it appears it is the worthy gentlemen above who have the say-so

I agree that funerals and graves are kinda different
Telegraph readers certainly want a state funeral and even a memorial. I would have thought a blue plaque was in order.
