Stuck on 11a and 24a. 11a is A book on desire is taking off (4,4). I have -C-S/-I-E. 24a is English enthralled by excellent American poet (4). I have R-A-. This could be Read - e for english surrounded by Rad, a slang term for excellent originating in the US, but Sir Edward Read was the only person with that surname who wrote poetry that I could track down and he seems to have been a polymath who, though he wrote poetry, was not solely known for it. Any help much appreciated.
