Absolutely no truth in the rumour that it's to be known as Hair Farce One.

oh please not again! I was waiting for someone to start that bovine faeces, it's not upside down. The Union flag cannot be upside down when it is not on a pole.
when you paint a flag on an aircraft the flag has an imagined pole toward the front of the plane. As the flag is tailing off it's not so obvious here. The US do the same thing, see here:

it's less obvious with the union flag.
take a look at this picture, see the flag is painted with an imaginary pole toward the forward of the plane.

So, many, ignorant of the convention would, claim this one is up side down too but it is not. The mirror image of the flag is on the other side but that would not arouse any issue because that would have the imaginary pole on the left, thus satisfying the false claim that the pole, imaginary or not must always be on the left. I do wish people who know nothing about flags would keep their flawed observations to themselves.
....not withstanding the above, do you really think they just slapped the paint on without thinking?
TTT, some would find fault even if the image was a perfect one of the flag on a pole. Which this clearly is not.
yes but as explained it's not an error it's deliberate. The flag is always painted the the imaginary pole at the side that is moving forward.
//The flag is always painted the the imaginary pole at the side that is moving forward.//

Of course it does. If it was a real flag it would trail towards the rear of the aircraft as it taxied or flew.

In any case it's immaterial to some. When I have pointed out errors in flying the Union Flag before on here I've been told that it doesn't matter. I suggested that the same could be said if, say, the Stars and Stripes was flown upside down only to be told "That's different. You can see what way up it's supposed to be." Well anyone who has taken the trouble to find out can see which way up the Union Flag should be flown.

As an aside the A330 is a fine aircraft, even when in normal use for the plebs. This one looks the part for transporting senior royals and politicians around. It's about time the UK smartened up a bit.
judge: "Of course it does. If it was a real flag it would trail towards the rear of the aircraft as it taxied or flew. " - correct, as demonstrated by the army here:

TTT, I agree the Union Flag cannot be upside down unless on a pole.

However, it does not help when you contradict that later by stating, flags on a plane fly from an imaginary pole.
TCL yes but that was to illustrate why, for example, this flag is not upside down when many would say it was:

people tend to think that the thick white bit should always be top left, that is not the case.
10:24 excellent comment, of course people would have been paid to paint it and what a lovely job they did of it as well!
