The queue for the checkouts in my local supermarket has us hanging around the alcohol shelves, like chocolates and sweets were for children in the olden days (!)
I wonder how many more bottles they’re selling than usual. I’m a drinker anyway. I wondered if many people are tempted to just chuck a bottle of whisky or whatever into their trolley that they wouldn’t normally.
Any ABers?

They've obviously got the floor-planning of that store worked out well, Clover!

At Morrison's in Ipswich (which is the only supermarket where I feel safe enough to shop at the moment, unless I take a long drive to Waitrose on the far side of town) the queue for the tills is routed as a zig-zag path through the 'Nutmeg' range of children's clothing, with nobody rushing to make any impulse purchases there!

I'm generally quite good at resisting impulse purchases anyway, although I do have to hold myself back sometimes in the magazine sections of supermarkets.
oh la la chris!
Queues for tills? Went to Waitrose at 9 this morning....straight in, nice quiet store and out with no queues at all....although I do the scanning-gun method, I noticed that there were no queues at the ordinary checkouts, either.
I'm not looking on the TOP shelves of the magazine sections, Bednobs! ;-)

(It's usually magazines like Computer Active or Web User that attract my attention. I often find myself buying them, even though I know that I can find all of the same stuff on the internet for free!)
same in our Waitrose, gingejbee. In theory they're still leaving the first hour for the old and vulnerable (including me), but I suppose as lockdown opens up they may no longer see the point in this and I'll be shopping among maskless youth again, which I'm not looking forward to.
