This is a very simple equation and I'm sure I'm right but need confirmation before I make a twit of myself.

On another forum a large group of people are clamouring for the £3.5m raised by Sir Tom to be given to the nurses as a pay rise. The NHS employs 311,380 nurses so I calculate that each nurse would receive £11.24 for one year and nothing for the next year.

Is that right?

Exactly.
my maths is shocking but even I know that £3m/300,000 is 10, so I would say approximately right
yes, correct, a futile idea from morons.
Right principle, but he raised around ten times that amount. Even so, not a lot for every nurse.
I thought he raised £33m
Or less if the money is to cover the employers NI and pension contributions.

Its a compassionate intention but a deeply inaffective way to spend hard earned £3.5m
the gubmint is stuffed with classicists ( boris ) and history grads and we always knew they couldnt add
er or divide
But if Matt was doing it he would say the government is putting 180 million in over the term time of an old age pension and exploring the possibility of rising the parking fee to help pay for the pip which is to replace the one that were not just right and had to returned to the landfill for incineration am I right Boris will you ask That nice Mr Cummings .
// ... but a deeply inaffective way to...//
oh it affects me ! a aaaah
sorry madeup - I er made that up
There was nearer £39 million raised, including Gift Aid.

The figures for the number of nurses is that for the English NHS so there will be more to add for the rest of the UK.

He raised £ 32.8 million . Where do you get the figure of £3.5 from?
Yes of course, he did raise £33m which would equate to £112 per nurse as a one off payment.

Still ineffective but good for Barry to have the correct numbers.
probably an idea put forward by Diane Abbott

Thanks all, I missed a digit off. So the correct figure is £112 per nurse, minus tax and NI etc.
I'm glad I asked here before posting.
very gracefully put Barry
According to my calculator 33,000,000 divided by 311,380 = 105.9798
if you say "around £100 each" that should cover it
//...if you say "around £100 each" that should cover it//

Indeed. About two quid a week. Not enough to pay for the parking fees (which have been recently reintroduced) for one day.
Only to have the £2 per week taken away again after a year because the £33m is all used up.
