Sparklykid, when we point out these anomalies we usually get one of two answers. If the person is in a good mood we will be told "you've taken it out of context". If they're in a bad mood they will imply we're too stupid to understand.

Lots of contradiction there, SK :-(

I just find it amusing that the two regular posters here keep backing up their opinions with bible quotes.

// up their opinions with bible quotes.//
yeah yesterday I didnt think the temptation atop a mountain - "satan saying bow down and I will give you all these" (*)
was not really grounds for talking abut the personification of evil but hell this is AB

(*) I tried in a variety of languages but no pasa
rien and of course " KAI TI MHDEN"
three at least I look uip the quotes
Oh dear!
You might have taken them out of context, or you might not be savvy enough to understand.
^Or they might be among the many that believers choose to ignore. I don't know. I can't access the quotes.
oh one is Matthew
temptation on top of the mountain

Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”

I thought it was gadarene swine - of whom the recently dead Nineham - if someone flopped down on the floor frothing, it would be possession, ( AD 30) - palsy 1700 and you beat them and 2020 epilepsy, barbiturates
and so it illustrates he Lands question of a few days ago - does the interpretation of the Bible vary from age to age
or is it invariant ( and my implication inerrant)

deep deep thoughts not my own
They're great, those quotes. In ancient Israel, I wouldn't have lived past 30 (although I do draw the line at the Welsh disease - I wonder if marriage sanctifies the act, i.e. if you marry a pretty sheep, is it okay?)
Thank you for best answer.
" it is written" - Ok but not by anyone even distantly related to Jesus and first disciples. generations of editors and rewrites!
''Roll up! Roll up! Bring out your unreferenced expertise, and set up your stall. All you need is an opinion, and you'll earn your degree.''
(Hot dogs and lemonade served to keep up your strength.)
//''Roll up! Roll up! Bring out your unreferenced expertise//

I give you references but they don't suit your agenda so you ignore them.
roll up rollup - bring out your inexpertise and blaaart anyway
great minds think alike !

fr'instance someone wrote: "I don't know. I can't access the quotes." but hey they commented anyway !

as it is written - - gegraptai
is usually used for OT quotes - and of course the theologians blaaaart ( ya dee dah it goes arn and arn jayzuz) about which version. The Greek translation LXX is often used. But when they get it wrong - it from memory like they didnt have the internet or is the author using another lost version ?

other wise they might use
λέγειν τὰ λεγόμενα
I write as I was told - and that I think doesnt occur in the NT

( someone asked someone asked) and you know I find a lot fo the NT more interesting than the average AB post

..... occur in the NT but might be used for reported speech darn McDonalds or Caffe Nero
Yeah yeah someone is gonna quip they didnt have the internet then - or someone else that those two outlets were closed on census night
I not surprising that there are, many other things also which Jesus did, which, if ever they were written in full detail, I suppose, the world itself could not contain the scrolls written” (John 21:25)
But have you look at where Jesus said where is is written.
must have been a lot of murders then, and lot's of false accusations to spite a friend or neighbor, lot's of kangaroo courts i bet, like witch hunts..it goes on even now.. that other religion?
1 Cor:1-27
