NJ, if no study is required, what are your suggestions on the best ways to encourage folk and their wee ones to eat healthier food?

andres //The official site gives 48 for our area but several of them give the wrong distance.//

It might be ‘as the crow flies’ distances. Websites often show me being only 15 miles from Cardiff. In reality it’s quite a trip from Somerset.
I won't be taking advantage of the offer but it will be nice for families especially to enjoy a treat at reduced cost.
We sat with the Gov Eat Out to Help Out website yesterday and planned lots of days out based on this offer. Local seaside cafes and garden centres for lunches, I need a trip to the garden centre anyway. An evening out at a restaurant connected to a sporting event that we've missed going to, and a we'll have a meal in another local riverside pub that has signed up to the scheme. Its worked for us!
>>> I didn't even think macdonalds and the like were reopened for eating in

KFC began reopening their eat-in facilities on 4 July, with most branches now open. Greggs started phased reopenings of their cafés around the same time, with most now open. McDonald's and Burger King have generally been slower to do so but, even if branches aren't yet reopen, they're signed up to the government scheme on the basis that they'll be trading normally again before the scheme ends.

If the government does not know why there is an obesity problem in this country and has to set up study or an enquiry to find out they have no business getting involved in the problem at all.

The reason is straightforward for >95% of the people affected - they eat the wrong food, too much of it, do not eat a balanced diet and get too little exercise. But when you have a government dishing out vouchers to get your bike mended and vouchers for a half price McDonalds almost in the same breath I imagine they would need a study to find out why the sun rises every morning.
