Just back from Spar, two young blokes with no masks/face coverings.
As they approached the counter, one of them pulled his collar over his mouth, the other pulled his T shirt over his mouth.

I suggested to the cashier that they should not be served unless they bought a mask, they sell them for 79p

She said she was not allowed to say anything.

It's just totally pointless pandering to the imbecilic. It may be the law but the shops are in no position to enforce it and plod, hopefully, has better things to do. As a LAC I have been wearing one on the occasional times it's been necessary but in my experience there are many who do not. Leave it to the jobsworths to "enforce", this whole episode is manna from heaven to them anyway.

By what I've seen is that the shops and supermarkets are putting young kids on the doors to take all the flack, so why not just leave them alone, and say nothing to them, they need a job, and just doing what their told to hang on to that job.

On the contrary you should have suggested that the cashier compliment their courage to go against the attempt to chip away at western freedoms, to not follow the flock and spread paranoia, and offer a free bottle of champers for their wonderful example to others. But she would probably not be allowed to give away anything, no matter how well deserved.

I work for the Orange Bucket brigade and I asked a Manager on Tuesday, what the official Store policy is on people who don't wear masks and the reply was that we are not officially allowed to challenge anyone who doesn't wear a mask.

I did speak to two of four people on Monday who were not wearing masks - one had it in his pocket and his friend just walked off and ignored me completely.

Sadly, there isn't a lot a member of staff can do about it.

Since face masks etc became compulsory in shops, the idea of 2 metre distancing seems to have shrunk alarmingly. Frankly, I'd rather people adhered to distancing than wore an inefficient mask.

And this is exactly why I no longer go into shops.

I struggle with them as I am asthmatic. I look healthy and most of the time you cant hear my breathing problems. I really dont want to be hassled by the 'mask' Nazi's and I am not going to wear a star on my person to show them I have medical problems.

Diddly has hid the nail square on the head. It was inevitable that people would be lulled into the false sense of security of masks that are not worn correctly and start to get closer.
