A Chance For Motorists To Have Their Say.
24 Answers
From time to time we get threads on Ab from motorists complaining about unfair priority given to slower more vulnerable road users.
The DoT's Consultation period in respect of Highway Code amendments governing the behaviour of, and consideration to be given to, cyclists, pedestrians, horse riders etc. STARTS TODAY.
So here's your chance to make your views heard where it matters.
Note: The proposed HC still maintains the illegality of cyclists crossing against a red light.

Regarding the Magic Roundabout, I lived in Swindon at the time that it was constructed and used it on my daily commute.
I always thought it was fine for locals but murder for strangers.
There was an interesting interlude when they first worked on it. It was originally a single roundabout with a massive central island which they swept away and tarmac'd over and experimented with various options using cones etc. They would then halt all entry points until queues built up, then release them simultaneously to see how it would cope with traffic saturation (the boffins observing from a temporary tower in the middle) - they were exciting times!
Re the Dutch system which Buenchico mentioned, here is another item on it which I came across today now it's operational.

I have had my say - essentially there needs to be balance and common sense as, just like drivers, some of these cyclists are a menace and danger to themselves. Example (and it bugs me), Bradley Wiggins/Chris Frome/Mark Cavendish-wannabes not using the cycling path that we taxpayers have funded and they continue to use the road, expecting drivers to cede to them - and when it's a pack, it's even worse.
