No Bednobs, no specification about time or numbers of people. It's just a straightforward estimate for the completed job.

I do know that it will be dug out by hand because they can't get a digger in our garden.

More info needed...What is there at the moment, what will need to be removed. Is there easy access.
Are they supplying a skip?
Or are you paying for that.
Have known plenty people to pay a lot more for not as much work. It does sound reasonable to me. 2-3 full days work.
The Builder will give you a better idea when he is armed with all the info.
