I have already put my entry into an envelope and sealed it ready for posting and out of the kindness of my heart I unseal it to give someone an answer !! Good job they are self seal envelopes.!

Oh dear, I am going to be in the minority but does it matter as long as the questioner gets their answer? It definitely does not matter to me if I cannot give an answer just as long as somebody does - and there are enough people who answer in Q and P for each and every clue to be answered by somebody who does take that publication. Ok there may be a little time delay while the questioner waits for somebody to come online to answer their question and it would therefore be definitely quicker if the questioner provided all the details they had - but from an answerers perspective I cannot really see the problem - sorry.
Hi I agree Shaneystar with your point, today there was a number from the Telegraph with no clues or amount of letters, I had a copy of my grid so could answer or likewise open an envelope, also a number without any source of where they are from, and short of sorting through the publications purchased fruitless to attempt answer. There is also a second thread here, if you see that an effort has been made, to write out the clue and the letters obtained you are more inclined to assist, some may not agree, I am grateful for help and to help others as this is a great site and some good brains and links to other people across the world. Good luck with all this Bank Holiday puzzles, just to remind anyone interested The Times on Monday will have Bank Holiday Jumbo,

By way of anecdote, one ABer once put up a post similar to :
23a Brain dead
I suggested 'persistent vegetative state' but it wasn't well received.
Far too often we are expected to be psychic.
Another thing along the same lines that annoys me: we are expected to always accurately remember the themes / formats of each quiz. There is one that requires two-word answers starting with the same letter, but do the posters always mention it? Do they ****. Some require placenames in England, others are placenames in GB still others are placenames in Derbyshire - and we're expected to remember which is which. And while I'm on a rant, what about the questions where we need a picture? After just over a year on this site, I think I have grasped which ones these are, but for ages I was forever asking "Give us the clue"
One last thing before I sign off, Does anyone have a hint for September's Rainbow Quiz No.35?
(That'll sort the psychics out from the prognosticators)
