Mould Smell

I've got a mortgage surveyor coming round tomorrow but there's been a mould smell coming from a cupboard under the stairs for a number of years. My dad has tried to locate the source of the smell but we can't see where it is.

Any ideas on what could be causing it and how I get rid of the smell?

She must have a very well paid job if she can get a mortgage over 300k. She seemed very young and came along with her mother for the viewing.

Tigger she may have a large sum to put down as a deposit - an inheritance perhaps? My youngest daughter who is in her mid thirties bought a house with 8 acres without a mortgage following an inheritance off her Grannie -the sellers did not believe she could afford it and required proof of funds!

The EA told me she had a deposit of 37k.

Tigger - young people can get 40 year mortgages these days -the repayments are probably cheaper per month than the rent she's paying -especially in London.

Ah ok, makes sense I guess. It's been a very long time since I got my mortgage and that was a 25 year one back in the early 90s.

I haven't heard anything from the Estate Agents regarding the mortgage survey carried out on Wednesday for the buyers lender. The surveyor said the report would be ready by Thursday so I'm just wondering whether no news is good news or do these things take longer?

Don't read anything into it Tiggs.
Legally, the valuation survey was between the buyer and his lender.

The seller is usually the bottom of the heap ;o)))

Don't worry, Tiggs. The agent would soon let you know. After all, it affects them too.

Sitting around waiting for the phone to ring is often a major part of house-buying and selling. Try and forget about it until monday at the earliest :o)

Your buyer's mortgage company may now have the survey and will have contacted your buyer for the good or bad news.

If its good news you will not necessarily be notified. If they have been refused a mortgage or something has come up on the survey that must be fixed before a Mortgage will be released, then the buyers will take advice from their conveyancer and either come back to you with a proposal ( offer less or buy on condition you put right what is wrong) or pull out.
I would give it to the middle of next week, and if you haven't heard anything by then, email your solicitor to ask the buyers solicitor if everything is proceeding as planned.
