Bible Out Of Print Query?
6 Answers
Hi I know this is a long shot, but when I was at school age 15 (I am 61 now,!) My Religious teacher read us a Bible that had been translated by Prisoners in the USA. It was so good and I regret not asking the Teacher the Exact Title and where he got it from. Does anybody have it? Or knows the name ? Or where I can buy it please? Thanks.

It is difficult to believe that a group of prisoners would be commissioned to produce a new translation of the Bible. It's more likely that a version (paraphrase) was produced in "street" language.

I know these are not American and there's no involvement of prisoners but "New World - the heart of the New Testament in Plain English" and "Winding Quest - the heart of the Old Testament in Plain English" (Alan T Dale. OUP) were published 1967 and 1972 aimed at use in Secondary Schools. Both are well illustrated with artwork and photos.
