Kicking around ideas to help me with slight deafness, whereas Mrs A has good hearing, so TV through our external speakers is fine for her, but I need a boost.

Headphones was one idea, but thinking about it more, they do 'isolate' you from others in the room, which would be sad.

So as an alternative I was looking at this:

Amazon.com User Recommendation

which would mean I could have that unit next to me, and control its volume separately.

Anyone come across these, and if so any comments?

Ta.

Deafness experts today?
Allen I have a Sony SRS X55 .. if the one in your link is anywhere near as good as mine, I would highly recommend it. Personally I have mine on charge constantly and the only time I disconnect it is when I take it out into the garden. The sound is really good, visitors who hear it cant believe that the sound comes from that one small speaker. When I built my conservatory, I ran wires to every corner for speakers. Since getting the Sony I have more than enough good sound and have removed all the other speakers and the need for wires!
If it is coming from Amazon .. Order it, use it and then send it back for a no quibble return if it's not what you want!

Same problem. Mrs wants TV on softer than I would like but all other hearing is fine.
Solved by having a hearing test and getting NHS hearing aids.
They are tuned to my ears and I use them only when watching tv.
They are perfect and we are both happy!
@14.52...it's not coming from Amazon...it's a storefront retailer in Germany....so returning it for a refund may be more of a hassle.
If your TV has Bluetooth capability, how about a much simpler (and much cheaper) Bluetooth speaker (with it's own volume control) next to your chair? I have one from Amazon made by "Anker" which is used with laptop, radio and portable CD player....about 30 quid.

Good points ginge. My TV does claim Bluetooth, but it’s a Samsung and operates oddly compared to most - I can’t pair my Sony srs speaker to it! But a £25 Bluetooth transmitter plugged into a headphone output should do the job.
