Speeding
Hi guys, I hope you all can help me to answer this question, as I was driving away from Vauxall Bridge towards Hammeesmith on a Saturday afternoon, a speed camera flashed twice as I was only doing 30mph, and I am 100% sure I was doing not more than 35mph.
As a begining driver, I am really concern about it becasue there wasn't any car in front of me or next to me. But I was not even speeding during that time. Have I been treated unfairly on this circumstance? Can I make any complain if I really been treated unfairly?
Thanks

They can be set fairly low so even being a litte over the limit will bag you. You need to wait 14 days to see if you are 'done'. Get a gps camera detector to keep you aware of these 'safety' camera locations. Have a look on here www.talex.co.uk. I got one six months ago and they are excellent. The way I look at it is, if it saves your bacon even once it has more than earned its purchase price. Go for the lite version you don't need all the bells and whistles on the dearer one - you only want to know where the 'safety' cameras are and it does the job really well. Good luck
There have been several cases of people being flashed for under the limit. If they try to prosecute you can ask to see the evidence, you can then measure the distance travelled in half a second using the 2 pictures with the markings on the road. From that you can calculate your speed. If the speed turns out to be less than 31 you can plead not guilty. In reality they will drop it if you demonstrate that you where not speeding. This happenned last year to a van driver who, like you was sure he wasn't speeding, he calculated his speed as 17mph! Good Luck
