How do I get a document from my printer and onto my laptop.

I had photo copied the document so that I have the original document and there is nothing on the printer,

Can you scan it? Lots of printers have a scanning function.

erm how did it get nto the printer?
let us suppose you put it there and it is a scanner
scan with pdf option
and make sure that when they ask for a path you specify laptop

hey if it is a printer scanner
then plug it into your computer
and if your are on the internet it will suck the driver from the internet
and operate the scanner from your computer

helluva a faff around - then after a few goes
you think oh it is easy

Please can we have some further details about exactly what is that you're trying to do? Are you trying to scan a document and then print from the scan (so that, in effect, you're photocopying it) or is it something different that you're aiming for?

(As SA has suggested, knowing the make and model of your printer might help too).
