Have just received an email from Tesco and although it looks very genuine, it is asking for some details , so I'm unsure what to do.This is what it says.

We know that your Clubcard number is hard to remember, and we’re always looking for ways to best protect your account. So we’re adding a safe and easy way to authenticate your account with a one-time passcode sent to your mobile number.

To make sure you can always access your Tesco account, please ensure your mobile number is up to date. Just head to the personal details page to check it. Remember to have your Clubcard to hand – while we’re moving to the new authentication system, you’ll need it to make any changes.

I suggest going onto the Tesco website (do not follow any links supplied in the email) and check. You could always send a message to customer services to check. Best to err on the side of caution.
Not yet...
I've had a similar one and the email address seems genuine enough.

However, as long as you enter the Clubcard site from your browser, rather than clicking on any links in any emails you get sent there should not be a problem.

Just never click links in emails.
how is the email addressed? Dear customer or dear Mrs barsel?
I have only just recently discovered that if an email lands in my spam box (Yahoo) all links are automatically disabled. I have to move it to the Inbox in order to view. A very useful safeguard.

bednobs, it's addressed to me personally. When I hover over the email address it does say Tesco customer services, but I will do as Barmaid has suggested and go straight there through my browser.
I had the same, deleted it straight away ,theyhave nothing o the website so i didn`t trust it
I must admit it does sound a bit iffy to me.
Very iffy.
Why would you want to remember the Clubcard number? You don’t need to.

Thanks for your answers. Have just phoned Tesco and it is genuine. It's so they can provide you with a pass code.
It would seem an odd sort of scam.
What would be in it for the scammer?
You need your card number to log in.
Passcodes sent to mobiles are pretty standard now
they wanted my mobile number off me of course i deleted the e-mail
agree yansee
nothing on site that I can see

RBS - DO do this - from the internet and says which phone they have sent it to

NOT the other way round - - scam
I'll continue using the way I access my account as I do now, I find my mobile more fiddly.
