What caused Dr House to have his  limp..I have looked at the HOUSE website and it just says he is ratty as he is in constant pain and walks with a cane.

i think he had a bloodclot.they did say in ep1 but cant quite remember.

Maybe someone got fed up with him being such a curmudgeonly smartarse and booted him in the knee. Sorry, don't know the real answer.

I asked my Sister-in-Law this last week (don't normally watch TV on a Thursday - pub quiz night, but was staying at hers for a few days) and she said he'd been shot and some of the tissue had died.

He had a bloodclot (no shooting) which caused muscle death and an operation to treat this left the functionality of the leg impaired. This is mentioned in one of the early episodes, but the story behind the leg is revealed in the last episode.

he had an infarction. cells in his muscle died due to a blood clot
