I've got a limited company and a kind of sub-company that I started as a sole trader before I incorporated the limited company. The sub-company has now been subsumed (right word?) into the ltd one but still operates in name as seperate entity.
Is this where I should use the term "trading as" as in Ltd Co trading as Sub Co when I refer to the Sub Co?
Or is it Sub Co trading as Ltd Co?
I have to sign a contract for the Sub Co and am well confused!
how many companies do you have registered at Companies House? if the sub-co is still registered as a separate legal entity (body corporate) then it can trade in its own right. if the sub-co is now not a separate legal entity and its name lives on only as a "brand" then that is when you would need to use 'trading as' i.e the registered Ltd company trading as the "brand name" of the former sub-co
Thanks rja, I ended up signing Ltd Co trading as Sub Co. Only the Ltd Co is registered with Co House. So I presume I only use trading as when I refer to the Sub co/ brand.
I wish there was more info about this on the web - none to be found!
