Vw Golf Key Fob

My MIL has a 53 plate golf, the key fob has stopped working. I've changed the battery which hasn't fixed it. Is there a way to reset it? She only has one key.

Can I suggest you have a look in the handbook - there might be some ritual you have to go through in those circumstances.

On a previous Golf we had if you pressed the buttons on the fob too often when it wasn't within range of the car you needed to synchronize the fob & car by (I think) unlocking the car manually, starting the car and then pressing the unlock button on the fob.

There you are, bookbinder has found the ritual for you, I suspect you might have to go through the same ritual if ever the main car battery is disconnected/changed (but I don't know that for certain).
