Hi

I have recently layed out some small stones over my drive. I've noticed that at this time of the year, the ground below has become damp and tread marks and wearing into the surface. I have been told you can buy some thick metal mesh that you lay into the stones so you can't see it. This is wide enough for the wheels and stops any sinkage. Only probably is, i've tried everywhere and can't find the stuff. Does anyone know of this product, or where I can get some? Thanks

You could use thick guage plastic mesh - in engineering terms it's called a geotextile. It comes in a roll and if you lay it down on the ground you can lay stones over the top. It's widely used on mountain footpaths for example to stabilise wet or boggy ground. Don't know where you buy it though - but a search on the net should be easy.
