Eating raw chicken or pork ?

I exercise commonsense with food always, but I am curious about something. If I were to eat raw chicken - say M&S free-range - or pork - say ASDA organic pork fillet, what are my chances of food poisoning ? Possible, Probable, Certain ?
I don't do it of course, but what are the actual risks ?

You can have the symptoms within a day or so but can it can last for 6 months - runny bottoms are not fun for that long..........
