Am I right in thinking that most of the authors thought the Earth was flat.

Why should anything else in the bible have any credibility ?

tilly, the earth moves relative to the stars.
Just saw *I Have Never Read The Bible* in latest posts.
Thought Theland had posted it ;-)
I realise that, TTT but they are not static as such.
everything in the universe is moving relative to something else. Polaris is directly above the north pole thus as our planet rotates the constellations appear to move around it. All speed and motion is relative. We orbit the Sun at approx 60000mph, our solar system orbits the galaxy at approx 500,000mph, our galaxy orbits the local group at 1.3m MPH, speed is relative.
Tilly, nothing is static.
There you go then! :-)
also interesting is that another of our Galactic neighbours is on a collision course with us.

the funny thing is that will be barely noticeable but at roughly the same time our planet will be engulged by the sun, (4.5bn years) as it swells to a red giant at the end of its life.
should perhaps to answer that question
one er might consider - - reading it?

The Bible, I think, like many others do, is a symbolic book. Several of the stories in the Bible are reminiscent of guru or wisdom thinker stories of other mythologies or cultural reference. Either way, it's a beautiful work of both fiction married to real history (in this case, the Jewish people).

Many people real religious scripture because it inspires you to think about the bigger questions. Often such questions are unanswerable, but it's fun to think about anyway for some.
