What Is The Point Of Closing The Pub Earlier?

Most of the diktats from the current shambles of a Government I sort of get even if I disagree but I really dont understand how shutting the pub just one hour earlier will make a jot of difference.

Surely punters will just go back to the old days where you doubled up and sank the grog quicker so it cant be consumption related. And if you have been in the pub since 7:00 how will going home an hour earlier reduce it, very few will come in the pub between 10:00 and 11:00(and they will now come earlier anyway) so it cant be a numbers thing.

Perhaps someone can explain the logic of it?

// Perhaps someone can explain the logic of it?//

erm we are talking about behaviour but there will be data about that. and have you noticed when you were at primary and going out on the booze ( parents iddnt know of course)
peoples behaviour in a pub was dependent on the time?

so close it down when all the smooching starts or would start
no not between men .... that wd be glasgow kissing

The behaviourists are all screaming their tots off because they want a seat on SAGE - and you know what that means - more money for their labs and research afterwards
Many pubs tend to shut later than 11pm these days. Here are the opening times for a local 'spoons:

Monday 8am–12am
Tuesday 8am–12am
Wednesday 8am–12am
Thursday 8am–12am
Friday 8am–1am
Saturday 8am–1am
Sunday 8am–12am

Other city centre pubs are open later still, and clubs even later. So 10pm is significantly earlier in many cases.
They started this in the NE a couple of weeks ago, and not sure if it’s made any difference. When we were in Durham back in August, we went out for dinner on the Saturday evening, it was 7 o’clock and I’ve never seen so many people walking/staggering around completely lashed, I thought I was in Benidorm. The 10 o’clock closing seemed to be wholly unnecessary. Unless it’s for the students when they go back next week.
Of course Rocky the NE is the only place in the UK that stag/hen do's go to. I'd keep away if I were you, riddled ,the lot of them!
It was meant to be a slagging, just an observation. 10 o’clock closing is futile in an area like that. And to be honest, I’ve never seen it in London where I grew up, and I haven’t seen it in Essex where I am now.
Sheltered life Rocky -we are all heathens oop north :-)
Maybe APG, maybe.

Are clubs open? I thought they were still shut?

Still no explanation from the 'open and transparent ' Government Johnson promised. Some good points on here, just a shame Johnson didnt justify why. Perhaps 11:00 might have been a better time (as per the old times) then made more sense. 10:00 just smacks of a dictator.
