Except that isn't really the point. I said earlier that the UK is "among the worst-hit" -- what matters for that is merely the rough order of magnitude. Bearing in mind, too, that the UK's own total on the source we are using is probably an under-count, it's not like we could assume other countries are the only ones whose figures need adjusting conveniently upwards.
There's no reason for controversy here. With the exception of countries who are obviously lying (China, Iran, Russia, North Korea), the UK is in the group of worst-hit countries -- a group that includes Spain, Italy, Sweden, and France in Europe; the USA and Mexico; and several South American countries, of which Peru and Brazil are the most notable. Whereabouts in that block the UK ranks specifically I don't know, as it's sensitive to questions of how the data were gathered; but that the UK is in this group is undeniable.
