What Is The Real Truth With All These Vaccines?

Personally I am very sceptical one will be found at all in the immediate future. I am also sceptical of how effective and how many side effects any vaccine that has been developed so quickly will be. Just throwing money and resources cant change the fact that some side effects take time to come out.

And now this one we were hinted at being the panacea has issues. No s*** Sherlock.

Well first off, we don't yet have a vaccine, only may be potential ones. But I don't think that we have ever had the whole scientific world all working at the same time, on the same problem, so who knows what they will or will not come up with, or develop. Should they come up with a vaccine that they believe in working, it will be down to each, to take it or leave it.

yeah but no but
they will just say that the best decision was made at the time
( and if the results really are awful then "lessons have been learnt") and by implication they would have done the same

This is a normal scenario for vaccine testing.
It would be worrying if they had NOT paused testing.

you do a v v v long series - esp if the animal studies are negative

surprisingly if one occurs in x cases, then the chance of it occurring again is one in 3/x

so that if one has occurred in a thousand cases, the chance of it occuring is 3/1000 that it is 1 in 300

so if you dont want something 1 in 10 000
to show that you have to do a series which is clear in 30 000

AND - didnt expect this

so in the usual run of things - MS and optic neuritis drown out new cases of transverse myeltitis ( by a factor of 20)

It's been tested on an army officer and claimed that it does work,but I don't think I would accept a Russian vaccine.

I might just let a longish period elapse , to see what side effects makes itself known , before I decided to have any vaccine that's developed

I posted on another thread that the fastest vaccine ever developed was for mumps and it took four years.

Records are made to be broken, of course, but I won't be holding my breath. And I won't believe a word the government says about it till it comes out. I don't want to hear how game-changing and world-beating something that doesn't exist might be.

It will work. It'll be a dose of Novichok that kills you, therefore rendering you immune from Coronovirus.

I don't see any harm in trying to find one- it is rather important for the world. They are trying every way possible to speed up the process whilst still doing all the essential checks at each stage. So for example when development and testing are being done plans are drawn up for how to produce it to scale asap in the event that it goes live.
The only issue is Russia where they seem to be skipping a stage but as long as they don't export it we can't do much about it.
I think it will take another year at the earliest but will probably take longer

Doesn't the fact that the trial was halted show that the normal system of checks is taking place? Anyway it was just a precautionary halt.
