I'm not getting any sound, this is the message it is giving on my media player, was working fine a couple of days ago, it isn't even playing the track, can you help please???

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

Hi, I've also had some funny things happening with the computer recently (not specifically with WMP) - lost sound and graphics cards. I had to do a System Restore to get back to 'normal'. I'd tried AVG anti-virus, Spybot, Ad-Aware and Windows Defender with no success. I hope this is nothing to do with the recent Windows Updates.

Thank you for that, I did a system restore 2 weeks preivous, but still no sound :0(
If you have a Windows disk (not a recovery disk), try using Start, Run and type sfc /scannow

Notice the space after sfc

It might take quite a while!

Have you tried re-installing the sound drivers (or motherboard drivers)?

Sorry it's took me so long to get back to you, I bought it from an independent shop, not sure I have any disks, should I take it back to the shop?
