and have only 2 things to say about it (1) couldn't they afford any lights for the first hour or so (2) it is the biggest load of drivel I have seen for many years.

Can't remember how much the first hour covered, but I would assume that anything shot in the Louvre had to be done with minimal lighting, so as to not harm the residents. As for the rest of the dim, I assume it's like eating at a dodgy restaurant: the lower the lighting, the less you can actually see what you're eating.
