Just A Thought Re: The Pub And The Furure.

Tonight I got the text you cant refuse .. 'Fancy a quickie'
It was from my busty neighbour who lives next door .... no it wasn't !

Now I have your attention, it was actualy an invite from my son to head towards the pub.
The following texts went .. have you booked a table.. yes for 5..00 .. count me in.. pick you up at 4.55.
The end result was, we were in the pub at 5.00. We were allocated a table. We ordered 2 pints using an app, they arrived within 2 minutes. Over the next hour and a half this process was repeated 5 times without a flaw. A masked lady turned up at the table and our only input was to remove the glasses of frothy liquid from her tray.
Our lift home arrived five minutes late .. I may well let the wife off with just a warning!
My observation was .. forget a cashless society .. I didn't even need my wallet and everything went without a flaw .. will this be the way forward after Covid ?
Personally I couldn't imgine things being any easier !

NJ .. yesterday I thought I might check the last time I went to a cashpoint .. it would seem it was 14 months ago !

Many years ago I was a member of a club and rules stated that no member was allowed to approach the bar. It was table service only .. I only joined as they had six snooker tables !
The table service was excellent !

Table service is okay, where it's appropriate - I just couldn't imagine our local with a service-only policy .... it just wouldn't work. Fine for the bigger chains which employ more staff; but not for the smaller pubs.
That being said, Wetherspoons have an app which you can use and when I'm in there, I tend to take full advantage.
To be honest, paying with cash is my thing .... I'm a window cleaner, I get paid in cash .... but I do like being waited on :)

So you each had 6 pints of beer in 90 minutes? Not my idea of a good time - if I drank that much that quickly I'd end up in hospital.

These days we have cut back severely .. when I lived in Manchester I used to visit the pub 14 times a week !
Not any more !
