The more disastrous precedent would be to inform all the other world nations that the UK is so weak it can be manipulated by them. Thus we pass whatever it needs to show that, one picks on the wrong target if one picks on the UK. Devolved legislatures should note that their authority concerns their areas only, and not overall UK matters. Folks from their areas of...

Jackdaw; what have you got against women?
Absolutely nothing. They have performed valuable service in the church but this is about the nature of the apostolic priesthood.
Jack; could you explain, please?
This is off-topic to the one posted, which is about the clergy interfering in politics. There is plenty of information on Google re opposition to women priests.
Sorry, Jack.
Jackdaw - I do understand where you are coming from on the subject of female priests. I felt the same for ages, but came round - and I'm female. I wish you peace in your decisions.
Jourdain/ Jack: The draw to Rome, which for me has been there for a long time, isn't necessarily (or in fact at all) about women priests etc. but about the aspect of the confession.
Perhaps Atheist should ask about it in a separate thread; hopefully, any discussion then would be respectfully-conducted, but it's perhaps better left there in *this* thread at least.
Jackdaw, //I just cannot accept women as priests and bishops….. this is about the nature of the apostolic priesthood. //

As ordained by ….men.
I think Jackdaw is a Nun, in real life.

In the eyes of God men and women are of equal value, and are to love and support each other.
But their roles are different, but never ever inferior.
This from one of God’s spokesmen, Theland.

//Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.// 1 Timothy 2:11-15

So much for never inferior.
And for Gods sake let her have , The Last Word.
Amen.
I was surprised at Khandro's comment 7.28 Mon. 19 Oct. I assumed that churches were not allowed to open during the start of lockdown and afterwards back in March? I often meet a lovely, lovely man when out dog walking, a priest at a local church and we stop and chat. He is devastated that the church can't offer people what they normally do because of lockdown and worries that they will never be able to operate properly again. I haven't seen him recently. I'm not a churchgoer, but I was sad for him and his obvious distress.
iluv. Some priests with locked churches have held open-air services, I know that has been the case in Poland, but then the Poles are a people who are not easily put off.
It's not so much the services though Khandro, it was not being able to open his doors to any of his parishioners in need. I don't think it's fair to tar them all with the same brush.
