In the event of no deal Brexit, which looks like Barmy Boris is going for, the cost of your weekly/monthly trip to the supermarket will probably cost at least 1/3rd more from 1st jan 2021. Will you still be glad you voted out, and you voted for Boris , when you have to find this extra money every week?.

Totally agree rowan. When I was young, I remember the excitement when the first strawberries came into the stores, now you can get them for Christmas. Buying from farmers and producers though is a very middle-class privilege. If the raw ingredients for the convenience food that many rely on becomes more expensive then people will struggle.

Maybe all of us of a certain age should set up home management courses, we cover the whole UK between us. Cooking, shopping and make do and mend for beginners. Or a network of trainers who will
Spend time with a family like rent an auntie ( or uncle) there is a huge pool of skills we could tap into.

Few are "going for no deal", save the other side of the negotiation table, maybe. But we maybe forced to accept it as inevitable.

One doubts the supermarket shop will rise that much, even temporarily. One simply switches from imported foods to ones readily available. But even double the cost is cheap for a return of sovereignty. But this is all obvious, surely.

We will have to see guliver. A was a remainer but can see we've left and its about alot more than food prices and scaremongering of those who cant axcept we've left

Overall prices will rise but if shopping habits change, and supermarkets respond it will be a choice between less choice and greater affordability or paying for imported foods and taking on the additional costs. I am already using local shops and farmers markets when I can (when finances allow)

Rowan 18.53 I would volunteer for that in a heartbeat. One thing I'm really really proud of is all my kids can make a meal from scratch -even the youngest, who wows his housemates at Uni with the many things he can make with mince ;-)
