Are Door Ventilation Vents Required
5 Answers
I am replacing my internal doors and one of them is the condensor boiler cupboard. At present there is a vent in the plasterboard above the door and also on in the door. However these were put in when the house was built 20 years ago. Since then the boiler has also been changed. I dont really want to start cutting a vent in my new door if there is no requirement. The cupboard does not have any heat from the boiler and there will still be one vent in the plasterboard. Could anyone advise whether this door vent is still a legal requirement or whether it is now obsolete. Thanks

Only five or six years years ago I was called out many times to alter and increase ventilation, as the specs had changed. Many of these boilers had been serviced year on year by British Gas.
As soon as things were updated they would no longer service them due to the ventilation requirements. Strangely enough they would not make any alteration to the ventilation, they just advised these customers that they needed a complete new boiler ..... A bunch of clowns .. it kept me very busy !
