Can anyone tell me regarding the short stay car park how much the cost is? Also is it purchase a ticket as you park or pay someone on your way out of the carpark?

I have to meet a friend flying over so I will probably be parked for about 3 hours and don't know if I have to take a bag of change to feed some machine or a wad of notes!

Hideously expensive - cheaper to buy a new car than park there.........the Council are really cashing in on the parking and they can't stop re-arranging the roads either.

Go to the short stay car park, (7 for 3 hrs I think at present) not the 'rapid' pick up one - that stuffs you 10 for 3 hrs.

They have pay as you leave machines installed now, so do try to stay under the time if you can....machines take notes as well as coins. The 'rapid' car park is free for a 10 mins pick up only so if you can, just park up and then when you need, go to the terminal for the arrival time only.

There is a car park you can stop in for free at the community hall 1 min from the airport on the corner of West Lane - its on the left before the roundabout / entrance to the airport if you are coming from Bristol direction, on the road to Felton. Don't know if thats any use, but I stop there if I need to wait at all for anytime or if not using a taxi to get to the airport.

Eeeek - I didn't want to buy the airport! I'll do the short stay one because I am not sure how much baggage my friend is bringing. Is this charge of 7 for a block of 3 hours, so to be parked 4 hours would be 14??

I will watch the time but am driving up through the night and can't guarantee what time I will reach the airport, plus there's always the possibility of her flight being delayed or longer time to get through customs.

I'll probably be arrested anyway - psychological profile of a nervous member of the public waiting anxiously at arrivals (I'll be nervous alright...I'll thinking of my parking charge!)
Hi Flubs - no, the over 3 hrs is about 10 I think. There should be info on the parkingat the Bristol Airport website

but do you need to be there so much earlier than the arrival? I would wait (at the Weston Lane parking for free..) and just stroll in to collect your pal when needed. Go into the free 10 mins rapid parking bit (fight for a space by the way - the layout is apalling and far to few spaces) - and check the arivals board to see if there are any delays.

Then wait til the actual arrival and then as you only pay for the time you are actually parked, try and time it for the least parking if you can. The other rip off is the cost of the tea/coffee in the halls as well. . . .

I'm probably going through Bristol next week so i'll look out for your graffiti comments (may drive down though - depends on prices...) Hope the info helps.

Well nickmo, I'm coming up on the M5 and A38 and the journey should take 2 hours. I have a horror of delays on the roads making me late which is why I intend being at the airport with time to spare. I won't trust the rapid parking because if the flight is delayed then there would be a problem, so its the short term car park I think I'll go for. Hopefully I can find a vantage point there where I can watch the planes arrive (I love that) and try and get a photo of my friends plane as it lands.

I'll probably leave about 4.30am and stop at the watering hole on the M5 on my way and make a liesurely drive out of it.
