King George Vii

It's just been announced that Prince William had covid at the same time as Prince Charles. With a 94 year old queen that could easily have put us in the position where Prince George would suddenly be King George. Clearly a regent would need to be appointed, but who? Andrew? Edward? Harry?

Andrew would not be a popular choice and there would be difficulty having Edward above Andrew. Anne would be my choice but I'm not sure how eligible she is being female and quite a long way down the batting order.

"Regency has nothing to do with the line of succession."
Under current legislation it does and as long as the heir is eighteen, he or she becomes the Regent. If the heir is under eighteen, it goes down the line of succession children to the first one who is eighteen.
The heir would take over during a Regency once he or she is eighteen.

no come on Jack - you missed the bit in Constitution course on regency. Period of political uncertainty that the Great and Good who rules us thought needed to be settled
and cd be correct -
Before Alexander was able to pursue that objective, however, he was bitten by a pet monkey and died from blood poisoning.21 Oct 2020 [wiki]- - that eez Alexander King of Greece 1920 and died from B virus and the dog ( er Fritz I think ) died as well. Not everything you read on wiki ( or AB ) is true.
and a GREEK I was talking to ( in ancient greek of course ) said - "yeah, the political uncertainty the succession caused, allowed Turkey to pick a fight with Greece and expel the Greek army and the greeks from anatolia ."
up to that time anatolia had had a large greek presence for 2500 years

// Remember reading years ago that Pince Charles does not want to be King Charles // - he wants to be King Finny ?
I recollect he had a wife who was prevented from called one of them Oliver ( king ollie will never reign - news of the screws headline)
the King ( david became an awful edward and bertie became George) can ( on advice I am sure ) chose what he wants
The first one is just the name ( stephen, anne, )
xc James - who passed a titular act Jac VI and I I think where he would be called James VI and I
and so now it always is
Victoria was christened - alexandrina
