A rare occasion where we can say have solved the puzzle but not the normal clues at this moment.

"Why are you behaving in such a disagreeable manner?"
It seems to be his self-appointed role now on this forum. Unless I've missed something he hasn't posted a comment on a puzzle for months, and his last comment was in similar vein.
Anyway, an enjoyable puzzle. Half a penny dropped after two thematic solves, the other half followed later. Easier than average, but a few tricky clues, including most thematic ones, meant it wasn't a doddle.

This was an excellent piece of construction for which there is a famous precedent. Yes the clues were quite easy, though I struggled with the SE corner.
Technically nobody can be certain of having finished this puzzle correctly - does that mean that this excellent crossword should go unremarked upon? Of course not.
I didn't realise there was an earlier thread when I commented on the other one. Should have realised when I didn't get abuse for my first post on there...

A quote from Alekhine, August 2018 -
"IainGrace … I don't think I ever suggested that there was harm in posting before completion … merely that I don't understand why people do it. Pushmipullyu has offered one reason why he/she does it and, although that feels fairly tenuous to me, if it works, that's cool.
I agree with you that there are clearly no rules ... hence my facetious attempt to highlight that with a ridiculous example.
You've reassured me hugely anyway with the revelation that
you yourself have even posted before finishing. Well ... that's good enough for me."
Entitled to a an opinion, yes, sarcasm perhaps ok, but downright rudeness in response to upsetter and myself surely unacceptable. Not that, I imagine, Alekhine will care what I say. Perhaps someone upset his chessboard.
