Occasionally on this thread we get questions about what food is suitable for hedgehogs. Apparently a new food has been introduced for those who want to feed the hedgehogs in their garden and help build them up for the winter hibernation. It's called Hedgehog Niblets and contains peanut flour, suet, fuit & cereal. It being sold in pet shops and garden centres. It's also available online at www rosemarysgardenshop co.uk.

We've recently had a visiting hedgehog, and when I don't have any spare cat food to put out for him, I've been putting out moistened dog biscuits which he seems to appreciate.

Thanks for that tip Wendy, it'll come in handy.
A link that works first time with no jiggling, if you need it

Just hope next doors cats don't eat this stuff
Nor the rats!
Surely, if you put out food for hedgehogs, they will eat that instead of helping to reduce the slug population in your garden.

yes, possibly the hedgehogs might go for the easy option of eating food put out for them rather than have to go foraging for slugs, etc. but if I was a wild creature and had to search for all my food I'd appreciate a bit of help occasionally (and sometimes a special treat to eat too).
