All our dogs and cats for the last 48 years have been rescued or rehomed. Poppy our cockerpoo was rehomed, but from a nice family who had treated her well but whose circumstances had changed. I would never 'buy' a dog or a cat, or any other animal come to think of it.

Barry, as I said rescue dogs that don’t have major problems are scarce right now. I know because I’ve looked. Apart from Battersea where we’re registered, I’ve searched four counties.

Some cruelty is beyond belief. I don't know if anybody saw the story of the poor female dog (looked a bit like a lab) who was gang raped by 13 men in Colombia. She died two days later. I screamed inside when I read that and I still haven't stopped. Wish I could have saved her. Poor sweetheart.

I hope the evil pigs got what they deserved and in a country like Columbia I'd hope so , that said they're not animal lovers there are they?

I couldn't carry on reading, but can't imagine there are many animal welfare laws there. She looked such a lovely dog though, what a nightmare for her. She's safe now and no-one can ever hurt her again. The so called men who did that deserve death imo.

I saw that story Margie and forced myself not to read it. Like you, those incidents haunt me for ages afterwards and I never forget them unlike forgetting what I did yesterday. What punishment did they get, I've forgotten:-(

There was the most appalling and horrific news report of a perverted married couple abusing chickens in the Bradford area last month. Sadly it happens all over the world.

I don't know if they received any punishment lb, I simply couldn't carry on reading, but I somehow doubt it in that country. Apparently bestiality such as that is rife. She'd also recently had a litter of pups. Can you imagine her pain?? I feel physically sick thinking about her suffering, poor beautiful creature. I hope they eased her pain when she was at the vet's before she died. No wonder I prefer animals.
