I have just booked and paid in full for a 2 week holiday to marmaris going on sunday. Due to recent bombings am i entitled to a refund?

nope, unless the the Foreign office designate it a no go area i think. And they won't, you wouls lose your money if you didn't go and as it is considered terrorism your insurance won't cover it anyway. i think,

bad luck - if you booked it now the price would probably have plummeted. The answer is basically no, unless there's some special clause in your insurance, but you could try asking the tour operator if they'll consider it.

They may consider changing your resort, it's worth asking.

The BBC's Simon Calder addressed this very problem on the 'BBC Breakfast' programme this morning. Basically, he said 'No, you're not entitled to a refund'. Reasoning behind this, say the travel companies, is that bombings have gone on in Turkey for several years now, and that you, (the public), should be aware of that before you book your holiday. If the FO were to issue a travel warning against going to Turkey, that would change things, but otherwise... And the FO aren't likely to do that, since they'd prefer to maintain a cosy relationship with Turkey. (Think of the bombings in Spain...same thing).
Going by past experiences, what's happened in Marmaris is pretty unlikely to happen again during your trip.

What makes you so special in this world, that of all the thousands of people in Marmaris, your son will be singled out to be a victim of a terrorist attack?

I know what your all saying, but its the first time he has ever been away and this happens, put yourself in my shoes, i dont think you would sit back and not care..........would you?

worrying is part of parenting, Tamirra, and I wouldn't dream of saying 'stop worrying'. But I really think, right now, he's safer in Marmaris now than he would be anywhere else. (And the same advice to you, chick2.)
