Didn't see this thread before posting on another about this abseiling lark...absolutely agree that it was done with none-too-good editing.
You never did see both celebs and the rope joining them in the same shot.
Incidentally, I see that the (alleged) knock on the head has affected Baldric...even more unpleasant (and superior) than formerly.
