Hi! I have to write a 15-20 pages essay in literature and I'm confused T-T
Do you think talking 'Gooseberries' by Anton Chekhov is a good idea? Are there enough sources for me to get help from??TT
Ps: I wanted to talk about 'The dream of a ridiculous man' which is amazing but i couldn't find enough sorces...
I was wondering how many words.. One thing to consider is that if there is less written about a particular piece then you can argue from your own perspective with all that has been said but equally you are totally free to follow your own train of thought. I once wrote a large piece on an Enid Blyton book......!!! I did find a lot of the more classical pieces really rather tedious!!!!
Did your tutor not give you any clues? To sustain a piece of that length it may be better to do a 'compare & contrast' on several texts, linked either by author, subject or period(e.g. Restoration Literature).
Thanks A LOT guys♡
But you know he wants us to talk about a specific idea... for example when one of my classmates said that she wants to talk about themes of a short story, he said that she has to choose 'one' theme and start talking about that theme throughout the story
Well, that gives us a clue. I'd pick something better-known, such as the 'Cherry Orchard', where there is a lot of comment and criticism available. I'm afraid that Russian Lit. is one of my vaguer areas (are you constrained by that?) Good luck :) Others on here may be more helpful. If it is one theme (open) then the world is your lobster!
