ah interesting. Quite diff to what the driver reported then. I was wondering how it was apparently o busy because obv anything other than essential shops are closed so ...
people were wearing masks and social distancing as far as i could tell
Its just like a ghost town round here, very few cars about on the road.
It is very quiet in my friend's area of London, Islington and she says most people are wearing masks and socially distancing. Maybe whoever you spoke to had an atypical experience?
this covid 19 has really hit hard.
Everyone is sticking to the rules here. I f you see anyone in the street they are wearing their masks and social distancing.

georgiesmum where are you based?

Neveracrossword - ah so you also confirming London is quiet ...

Somerset it's prop not much different - or at least where I am. But I am rural so the shops around here are all essential sort anyway.
I was in Oxford St yesterday and while it wasn't deserted, it was much quieter than usual, in and out of the shops, more like a Sunday morning before anything had opened. Most people wearing masks and keeping their distance.
its around 50 50 round here. Roads are steadily busy and I am seeing planes again but people out walking are social distancing and or wearing masks. Permitted local shops are open and people are wearing masks in them and following the rules.

Jno tho I presume the shops open were only shops selling food items amongst their goods? I can't imagine the majority of Oxford street shops being allowed to open surely?
Quite busy where I live, some non-essential shops are open and nobody seems to be bothering. I haven't noticed any difference really.
I live just on the outskirts of London, but work in London. I have to say, the traffic has been horrendous lately. I don't know where everyone is going. Most people are wearing masks when they should, but I don't see much social distancing going on. But then, I feel that went out of the window when masks became mandatory in shops.
Quieter but the supermarkets are busy. A lot of shops are pushing the idea of essential goods to the limit though. Was able to pick up knitting yarn for a project, from a general cheap goods store they can open because they sell cleaning materials.
I think more people are driving short distances now.

I've noticed a lack of school kids so again I assume the parents are driving them when they used to walk.
